How Do I Set Up A Meal Window? |
- Click on the main "Admin" navigation tab,
and then on the Meal Policies
link located under the Policies
section of the screen.
- Under the section labeled Create a (Meal Window)
meal policy click on the [ADD MEAL POLICY] icon. The
"Meal / Lunch Policies" screen opens.
- Enter the name you would like to use for this policy.
Example: Full Time, Part Time, Graveyard, etc.
- Enter the meal window start time in 24-hour format.
For example, if the lunch starts at noon, you would enter 12:00.
- Enter the end time of the meal window in 24-hour
format. For example, if the lunch ends at 1:00 P.M. you would enter 13:00.
- Enter the deduction amount. For example, if the employee
gets an hour for lunch, you would enter 01:00.
- Put a check mark in the Auto
deduct lunch box if you would like a lunch break to be automatically
deducted when an employee does not punch out at the time clock. With
this option de-selected, no lunch will be automatically deducted, but
the policy will still be used to generate "Short Lunch" and
"Long Lunch" error messages on the employee's time card.
Put
a check mark in the This policy will
move one day forward field if you would like to move the lunch
deduction forward one day.
Important: This setting is used for very specific scenarios
only. Click
on the link below to view a detailed example of when this setting should
be used. Do
not select this setting if any of the given criteria does not apply to
you.
- Select whether or not you want the system to automatically
deduct the remainder of the lunch break when the employee clocks out for
less than the specified deduction amount.
Example: The deduction amount is set to 1 hour. An employee assigned
to this meal policy clocks out for lunch at the time clock, and clocks
back in 45 minutes later. Do you want the system to automatically deduct
the remaining 15 minutes? If
the employee does not clock out for lunch at
all, no deduction will occur unless the Auto
deduct lunch option is enabled.
- The Only
Include Lunch Punches option is used with Job Transfer Punching.
With this option enabled, the automatic lunch deduction will only be overridden
if the punches entered during the specified meal window are flagged as
"Lunch" punches (either from the clock keypad, or through system
entry). This allows employees to enter job transfer punches at the clock
during the meal window without overriding their automatic lunch deduction.
- Click on the [FINISH/SAVE] icon to save your changes.
