"Pay the Greatest Rate When Working in Base Department" Example

This option ensures that when an employee's default department level is assigned to a premium pay code, and the employee's base pay rate is higher than the premium rate, the employee will always receive the highest rate of pay for working in their default department.

Example:  An employee is assigned to "Dept A" as his default department level.  "Dept A" is assigned to a premium pay code which states that employees who work this department receive a premium rate of pay.  The employee's base rate of pay is higher than the premium rate specified in "Dept A."  When the employee works in his default department level, he will receive his base pay rate.  When the employee works in any other department level, pay settings will be applied as usual.
